RideLondon Essex-100
Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
The RideLondon Essex 100 is the biggest closed road cycling event in the UK attracting well over 20,000 riders.
A record number of 86,001 cyclists applied for the 2015 ballot of just 20,000 places! Although numbers for 2022 have been increased to 25,000 riders, places are in high demand.

The Route
For 2022, the 100-mile course follows a new and improved route which continues to take place on closed roads. Starting at the Victoria Embankment in Central London, riders will venture into Essex and through the majestic and historic Epping Forest. Some of England's prettiest towns and villages now feature on the route and include place such as Ongar, Fyfield and Great Dunmow.
Tour de France fans will be delighted to hear that the ride then joins a long section of the Tour de France route from 2014 which takes rideres through Felsted and around the historic county town of Chelmsford. From here the route heads back to Central London via Writtle and Ongar. The finish line for this year's ride is Tower Bridge, arguably London's most iconic landmark.
Am I Fit Enough?
You need to be confident cycling in a large crowd of cyclists (20,000 plus riders) and be able to finish in 9 hours. Minimum age: 18 years on the date of the ride.

Given the cost of each place, we are asking our supporters to raise a minimum sponsorship fund of £400 (before any Gift Aid is applied). There is also a registration fee of £50.
