Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Gary takes on the Ark to Arc challenge to raise funds for Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity!
On the 12 July 2017 Gary will set off on his epic Ark to Arc challenge leaving from the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke and cycling to Porstmouth before getting the overnight ferry to Caen in aid of Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Gary will then spend a further 3 days in the saddle cycling from Caen to Alencon and then onto Evreux finally finishing in Paris!
Gary keeps himself busy running engineering companies LG Motion Ltd & MiniTec UK Ltd in Basingstoke and Precision Acoustics Ltd in Dorchester.
Commenting on his challenge, Gary said:
"My summer of 2016 was highlighted with a testing JOGLE ride, which despite being tough was perversely very enjoyable, especially the camaraderie of fellow riders.
So here I am again, ready to ride because I’m fortunate enough to be able to, coupled with trying to keep my hamster cheeks in check seems good enough reasons.
This year I want to continue raising awareness and a lot of cash for The Ark Cancer Centre in conjunction with Bike 4 Cancer.
