Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
The 100-mile course follows the exact route used for the 2012 Olympic Road Race and starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads which will be lined with thousands of spectators.
The route will see Kevin and Gary cycling past famous landmarks as he leaves London before crossing into Surrey's stunning countryside.
With some leg testing climbs along the way, the ride finishes on The Mall in central London.
"I’m so excited to be taking part in this year’s RideLondon Surrey 100 event. Following last year’s success, I really wanted to have another go at this. Yet again I will be doing this on the tandem but this year with my new pilot; Gary Phillips. So a big thank you to Gary for helping me raise money for Bike 4 Cancer
.
I was honoured to take part in last year’s event to raise money for Bike 4 Cancer, but since then I’ve read more and more about what this amazing charity does and I felt compelled to come back and raise money for them again.
Cancer has touched my life as well as the lives of so many close family and friends. It is in memory of those who have lost the battle against cancer and in honour of all those who have won their battle that I do this. So please, anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support."
“I’m really excited about taking part in this year’s RideLondon 100 with Kevin. I am hoping to raise as much money along the way for Bike 4 Cancer. It seems everyone you speak to knows someone that is or has suffered from this awful disease. Bike 4 Cancer support families and loved ones who’ve been affected by cancer and helps them through this awful time. We have a lot of fitness preparation beforehand so please donate as little or as much as you can to support this charity... and also to motivate me on those long training sessions!
Thanks so much to anyone who donates money, it's for a really important cause and literally every penny counts. I’ve never ridden a tandem and being able to complete this ride with Kevin will be a tremendous achievement!"
Please sponsor Kevin and Gary and leave your words of encouragement below. Thank you.
