Esther Kho gets on her bike 4 cancer...

Bike 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

On Sunday the 31st July 2016, Esther Kho will be joining 20,000 cyclists for the RideLondon - Surrey 100 bike ride. Esther will be cycling in aid of Bike 4 Cancer!

The 100-mile course follows the exact route used for the 2012 Olympic Road Race and starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads which will be lined with thousands of spectators.

The route will see Esther cycling past famous landmarks as she leaves London before crossing into Surrey's stunning countryside.

With some leg testing climbs along the way, the ride finishes on The Mall in central London.

Commenting on her challenge, Esther said:

Hi,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the RideLondon-Surrey 100 cycle ride for Bike4Cancer in July 2016.

Many of you will not be new to my fundraising efforts, which means many of you will also know why this is a cause close to my heart. By the time this bike ride comes around, it’ll be over 1.5 years since my mum’s passing...and if there’s one thing I think everyone involved has learnt, it’s that it never gets easier, you just learn to cope better :)

…or, as Greg LeMond said, “it never gets easier, you just go faster.” Really I’m just looking to get through the 100 miles rather than smash a world record, but the quote was just such a good segway into Bike4Cancer and why I’m cycling for them again. Bike4Cancer is a cancer respite charity, providing cancer patients and their families with opportunities to enjoy sporting breaks together, and they also make grants to UK care institutions.

Exercise is important, and exercise makes happy (clinically proven). So let’s see if we can contribute even a tiny bit to help improve the quality of life for people while they’re still able to enjoy it. Donations are not obliged but much appreciated!

Thank you xx
Esther
