Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
On the 9 June 2017 The Mid-life Cyclists will set off on their epic London to Paris in 24 hours challenge leaving from London and cycling to Brighton before getting on the ferry at Newhaven.
Once on French soil the team will cycle the famous Avenue Verte cycle route before heading towards the finish at the Eiffel Tower.
"In an attempt to prove our manliness and that we have ‘still got it’ (some may question whether we ever ‘had it’), Sean, Paul, Gary, Del, Steve, Gary, Neil and Jim are cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours on Friday, 9 June 2017. This involves 190 miles of riding and the 24-hour time limit includes a ferry crossing from Newhaven to Dieppe.
To make the pain worthwhile, we have decided to raise some money for Bike 4 Cancer, the charity which has helped us with the arrangements. Most of us know someone who has been affected by cancer and the devastating impact that it can have on the lives of those fighting the disease and their families.
Bike 4 Cancer is a charity which provides respite days and short breaks for families affected by cancer as well as funding research into the positive effects of sport in helping to prevent cancer. If you are able to make a small donation to support our chosen charity, it would be greatly appreciated. We are self-funding the event, so every penny of your donations will go to the charity."
