Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Starting on Clapham Common, the route travels through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before finishing in front of Brighton Pier.
Team Cycling4Sue will have to tackle the fearsome Ditchling Beacon at the end of the 54 mile route - the highest point in East Sussex at 814 feet above sea level!
"My wonderful and lovely mum, Sue has been fighting cancer for 3 years now. Unfortunately earlier this year we were told the cancer had spread and whilst she still continues to fight a good fight she is now receiving palliative care. All teams supporting her and us as a family through her palliative care have been amazing from the hospice and all the supporting teams at the hospital through to Social Services and her care team.
On the 17th September myself and my fantastic and brilliant friend Sarah will be cycling from London to Brighton with Bike 4 Cancer a charity that supports palliative care teams across the UK. Please help us support this incredible charity by sponsoring us as we attempt to complete the 54 mile ride from London to Brighton and take on the gruelling Ditchling Beacon in the last leg".
