Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Starting on Clapham Common, the route travels through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before finishing in front of Brighton Pier.
Lucie will have to tackle the fearsome Ditchling Beacon at the end of the 54 mile route - the highest point in East Sussex at 814 feet above sea level!
Commenting on her challenge, Lucie said:
"I would like to thank all of you who supported me last year and I hope you will be even more for 2017! I chose to ride for Bike 4 Cancer again because I think it is a wonderful Charity and I fully agree with their mantra: sports help to go through difficult situations, even grief. I signed up for the 2017 London to Brighton Charity Race in memory of my father who passed away this year because of this terrible disease. He loved cycling as much as I do. In participating to this race I hope to share the values my father and cycling taught me: team spirit courage and passion. Fight against Cancer does not warrant for public policy actions only but needs the collective effort of everyone which even includes you"
