Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Starting on Clapham Common, the route travels through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before finishing in front of Brighton Pier.
Team Tour de Farce will have to tackle the fearsome Ditchling Beacon at the end of the 58 mile route - the highest point in East Sussex at 814 feet above sea level!
Commenting on their challenge, Tour de Farce said:
"3 old friends will attempt to squeeze into some Lycra and cycle from London to Brighton on Sunday 11th Sept 2016. It's all for a good cause, Peter Twiggs and Tony Clements could do with losing some weight, and Dan Cossins needs to get out more. It's also for a very worthy cancer charity. So dig deep, as we will be trying to get up all those hills. We'll also be wearing bare bottoms to help with the drag coefficient (I'm serious)."
