Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Lorraine takes on the Ark to Arc challenge to raise funds for Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity!
On the 12 July 2017 Lorraine will set off on her epic Ark to Arc challenge leaving from the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke and cycling to Porstmouth before getting the overnight ferry to Caen in aid of Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Lorraine will then spend a further 3 days in the saddle cycling from Caen to Alencon and then onto Evreux finally finishing in Paris!
Commenting on her challenge, Lorraine said:
"Having been sold the idea to sign up by Mark Dolby (“Come on Lorraine, it will be a laugh… it’s flat roads ALL the way to Paris… honestly”) I am now thinking he may have fibbed a bit?
However, it’s too late now - I’m in and raring to go !!!
This will be quite a challenge for me - but not nearly as much as those challenges faced by cancer patients and their loved ones on a daily basis. So I’m not going to grumble at all. (Well maybe only going up hill).
