Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Lionel takes on the Ark to Arc challenge to raise funds for Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity!
On the 12 July 2017 Lionel will set off on his epic Ark to Arc challenge leaving from the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke and cycling to Porstmouth before getting the overnight ferry to Caen in aid of Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Lionel will then spend a further 3 days in the saddle cycling from Caen to Alencon and then onto Evreux finally finishing in Paris!

Commenting on his challenge, Lionel said:
"I’m not what you’d call an enthusiastic cyclist, (haven’t ridden a bike without an engine for 15 years), don’t even own a bike, (better fix that). But I do like a challenge and this looks like a tough one for very worthy causes.
I haven’t actually trained for anything for over 30 years and to be honest training then was pretty easy. I’ve got what’s known now as a, “dadbod,” I believe. Hopefully the cycling will go some way to changing that.
Most importantly if my endeavours can raise some money for two great charities then that gives me all the motivation I need. Please donate as much or as little as you can afford."
