Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Colin takes on the Ark to Arc challenge to raise funds for Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity!
On the 12 July 2017 Colin will set off on his epic Ark to Arc challenge leaving from the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke and cycling to Porstmouth before getting the overnight ferry to Caen in aid of Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Colin will then spend a further 3 days in the saddle cycling from Caen to Alencon and then onto Evreux finally finishing in Paris!
Commenting on his challenge, Colin said:
"Hi Folks, I will be taking part in the Ark to Arc challenge on behalf of Merit Recruitment who are headline sponsors for the event.
Part of my motivation is to keep alive the memory of three people that have left us, courtesy of Cancer over the last three years.
Firstly, Helen Pickup, who was a huge fundraiser for The Ark, secondly Dawn Watts who both benefited from the fantastic support that The Ark Cancer Centre could give them as they fought their personal battles.
Finally, Ian Mounser; a close friend and working colleague who was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer just six weeks after taking early retirement. A keen golfer, footballer and cricketer Ian had missed just one day of work due to illness in 24 years! His plan to spend as much time as possible on the golf course was cruelly taken away!!!
Each turn of the pedals will be in their honour.
