Set up by a team of cycling enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Bike 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. cycling) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Ashley takes on the Ark to Arc challenge to raise funds for Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity!
On the 12 July 2017 Ashley will set off on his epic Ark to Arc challenge leaving from the Ark Cancer Centre in Basingstoke and cycling to Porstmouth before getting the overnight ferry to Caen in aid of Bike 4 Cancer and the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Ashley will then spend a further 3 days in the saddle cycling from Caen to Alencon and then onto Evreux finally finishing in Paris!
Ashley works at Beaufort Asset Management.
Commenting on his challenge, Ashley said:
"Having only been at Beaufort a week, Mark Dolby and Andrew Coles asked me about doing a charity ride and invited me to the soft launch - I honestly knew nothing.
Speaking with Mark Jones and the other riders it made me understand the huge task that lies ahead for the Ark Cancer Centre and how it will greatly benefit the community and help so many people.
The guys who did the JOGLE ride explained - the weather was terrible - there were some dark days - it hurt a lot - hills aren't fun - bring a map.
But they couldn't sign up quick enough for the Ark to Arc ride - the spirit and camaraderie within the group to help such a needed cause could not be stronger and I knew I wanted to be involved and help in whatever way I could."
